Volunteer Attorney:

LegalCORPS provides pro bono legal services to small businesses and non-profit organizations.  Marcy has been a volunteer attorney with LegalCORPS since 2006.

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve

Ombudsman: 

The Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve educates employers and military service members about their rights and obligations under the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-employment Rights Act (USERRA) and helps facilitate agreements between employers and employees regarding the terms of a service member's civilian employment.  Marcy has served as an ESGR ombudsman since 2007, has received advanced training in USERRA and ESGR processes, and frequently represents ESGR at deployment and re-integration events for service members.

Families Moving Forward

Board of Directors/Leadership Committee/Emerson North Task Force:

Families Moving Forward provides services and emergency shelter for homeless families through a coalition of more than 40 faith communities.  Marcy served on the Board of Directors from January 2008 through March 2011, serving as vice chair in the final year.  In March 2011, Families Moving Forward merged with another entity, now known as Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative, and Marcy became the chair of the Leadership Committee, which replaced the Board.  Marcy served on the Leadership Committee until June 2013.  Marcy now serves on the Emerson North Task Force, which is working to develop affordable housing and a new "Day Center" for Families Moving Forward on the north side of Minneapolis.

Downtown Congregations to End Homelessness

Steering Committee and Interfaith Action Team Member:

DCEH is an interfaith organization of 16 congregations in and around downtown Minneapolis that work together to help end homelessness through direct services, education, and advocacy. Marcy represented Temple Israel of Minneapolis on the Steering Committee of DCEH, which was otherwise made up of clergy and congregational employees, from Autumn 2009 until Spring 2012.  Marcy then began representing Temple Israel on the lay Interfaith Action Team. 

Midwest District of the Women of Reform Judaism

President (2012-2014):

The Midwest District of the Women of Reform Judaism consists of 34 women's groups (approximately 4,000 members) in Reform synagogues in South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, and northwest Indiana. Women of Reform Judaism, an affiliate of the Union of Reform Judaism, is the collective voice and presence of women in congregational life. WRJ supports the ideals and enhances the quality of Jewish living to ensure the future of progressive Judaism in North America, Israel, and around the world. Marcy currently serves as the President, overseeing an Executive Committee of more than 25 women.

Women of Reform Judaism Board of Directors

Board of Directors:

The Women of Reform Judaism supports the ideals and enhances the quality of Jewish living to ensure the future of progressive Judaism in North America, Israel, and around the world.  Marcy was elected to the Board of Directors of the Women of Reform Judaism in 2007.  In 2010, she chaired the Constitutional Revisions Committee, which recommended a major overhaul of the constitution that was approved at the biennial assembly in 2011.  Marcy has served in various other roles, including an analyst for amicus curiae briefs that WRJ has been asked to sign, a judge of a Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion essay contest, parliamentarian, member of the resolutions committee, and member of the Or Ami (programming awards) committee.  Marcy currently serves on the board in her role as Midwest District President and is considered an expert resource on bylaws for local sisterhoods and women's groups.  

Temple Israel Sisterhood

Parliamentarian:

Temple Israel Sisterhood’s mission is to bring together the women of Temple Israel to serve the Temple, support the community and enrich the members' lives through personal growth and friendship. Temple Israel Sisterhood accomplishes its mission through social and educational programs, fundraising, community service and involvement with the Women of Reform Judaism.  Its activities, enhanced by the richness of its members' diversity, further its members' commitment to Jewish ideals, education, spirituality, social action, and leadership development.  Marcy has been on the Executive Committee of Temple Israel Sisterhood since May 2002, serving as Corresponding Secretary, Co-Vice President of Administration (fundraising), Co-President, Past President, and Parliamentarian.
